Acetic
acid
Acetic acid is produced by liquid phase oxidation of Acetaldehyde
in presence of Potassium Permanganate and Manganese Acetate,
at a moderate pressure of 5 kg/cm2 in a specially designed reactor.
The crude acid is passed through a pre-heating vessel to knock
off undesired per-compounds so as to improve the yields. Further
it is taken to the scrubbing system for recovery of un-reacted
Aldehyde. Finally the crude is taken to a distillation system
to obtain highest purity acetic acid as bottom product and a
byproduct weak acid is obtained from the top of the column. |
